Rural Social Service (RSS) activities

a) Bringing the poor people of rural areas into the mainstream of development by mobilizing them

d) Enhancing savings for own capital formation of target persons

A permanent resident of the selected village who:

a) Through socio-economic survey

b) For obtaining interest-free loans and other services, the poorest persons classified as ``A'' and ``B'' i.e. whose per capita annual family income is up to Tk 25,000.

c) For availing services other than interest free loans for category c i.e. whose per capita annual family income is above 25 thousand rupees

After application following proper procedure in prescribed form:

a) Within 1 (one) month after application for 1st time loan (investment).

 

b) Within 20 days of application for taking 2nd/3rd stage loan (reinvestment).

a) Working group members/members of rural social service activities listed in upazila social service office through socio-social survey

b) For availing interest free loans and other services to the poorest persons in categories A and B i.e. whose per capita annual family income is up to Tk 25 thousand.

c) For availing services other than interest free loans for category c i.e. whose per capita annual family income is above 25 thousand rupees

After application following proper procedure in prescribed form:

Elderly Allowance Scheme

Payment of old age pension at the rate prescribed by the government for social security. For this, in the financial year 2008-09, an allowance of Tk 250 per month is being given to the selected senior citizens.

a) Poor woman or old man aged 65 years or above in municipality and upazila whose annual average income is less than 3 thousand taka

b) Physically disabled and incapacitated elderly men and women will be given top priority

a) Arranging for disbursement of allowances including selection of new beneficiaries within a maximum of 3 months from receipt of allotment

b) The selected beneficiary will be paid monthly subject to allotment. However, if someone wants to make a one-time withdrawal, he will withdraw at the end of the prescribed period

c) The dues received before the death of the nominee of the annuitant and up to 3 months after the death of the annuitant can be withdrawn.

Indigent Disability Allowance Program

Payment of old age pension at the rate prescribed by the government for social security. For this, in the financial year 2008-09, an allowance of Tk 250 per month is being given to the selected senior citizens.

a) Persons with all types of disabilities above 6 years of age who are not in receipt of old age allowance or any other allowance from the Government. Who is not an employee or a pensioner.

b) Persons with disabilities whose annual per capita family income is less than 24 thousand rupees.

a) Arranging for disbursement of allowances including selection of new beneficiaries within a maximum of 3 months from receipt of allotment

b) The selected beneficiary will be paid monthly subject to allotment. However, if someone wants to make a one-time withdrawal, he will withdraw at the end of the prescribed period

Education Scholarship Program for Students with Disabilities

Providing stipend at low rates to disabled students by dividing them into 4 categories:

a) Primary Satmar

(1st-5th class) 300 taka per person per month

b) Madhyamik Satmar

(6th-10th class) Rs 450 per person per month

c) Higher secondary education

(11th and 12th class) Rs.600 per person per month

d) Higher stress

(Graduate and Post Graduate) Rs 1000 per person per month

Students with disabilities above 5 years studying in educational institutions approved by the government, whose annual per capita family income is below 36 thousand rupees.

Disbursement of stipend including selection of new stipend recipients within 3 months of allotment and regularly during academic period.

Freedom Fighter Honorary Allowance Program

Payment of allowance at the rate fixed by the Govt. For this, in the financial year 2008-09, the selected freedom fighters will be given a monthly allowance of Tk 900 per person

a) Freedom fighters and widows of freedom fighters whose annual income does not exceed 12 thousand rupees

b) Freedom fighters are included in at least 2 of the 4 nationally published lists of freedom fighters whose names are included in the list of freedom fighters from the Armed Forces Department and Bangladesh Rifles or the freedom fighters who are certified as freedom fighters by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs or gazette published by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.

a) Arranging for disbursement of allowances including selection of new beneficiaries within a maximum of 6 months from receipt of allotment

b) Mukti Jodha stipend is paid monthly, but if one wishes, several months' arrears can be withdrawn together.

Widows and Deserted Women's Allowance Scheme

Payment of allowance to widows and destitute women at rates prescribed by the Government for social security. For this, in the financial year 2010-11, selected widows and widowed women are being given allowance at the rate of Tk 300 per person per month.

a) Aged helpless and distressed widows or deserted women will be given preference

(b) who is destitute, destitute, almost landless, widowed or deserted by her husband and has two children under the age of 16 years;

c) Among the distressed poor widows and deserters who are disabled and sick will be given priority.

a) Arranging for disbursement of allowances including selection of new beneficiaries within a maximum of 3 months from receipt of allotment

b) The selected beneficiary will be paid monthly subject to allotment. However, if someone wants to make a one-time withdrawal, he will withdraw at the end of the prescribed period

c) The dues received before the death of the nominee of the annuitant and up to 3 months after the death of the annuitant can be withdrawn.

Implementation of probation and aftercare programs

a) Under the direction of the Hon'ble Court, to suspend the sentence of persons convicted of first and minor offenses and to place them in a family and social environment under the supervision of the probation officer and arrange correction and self-improvement.

b) Providing education and vocational training to incarcerated persons

c) Release and transfer of juveniles from prisons to juvenile development centers with the assistance of Taskforce Committees.

a) Probationer sentenced by the appropriate court

b) Child Juvenile in contact with the law.

a) Time limit fixed/ order passed by the learned Court

b) Within 20 working days after receiving the approval of Upazila Social Service Program Project Resettlement Committee regarding rehabilitation.

Registration and supervision of voluntary social welfare organizations

a) Issuance of permission to name voluntary social welfare organizations

b) Registration of organizations/institutions/organizations/private orphanages/clubs interested in service activities as described in section 2(f) of the Voluntary Organizations (Registration and Regulation) Ordinance, 1961

c) Supervise the activities of registered organizations.

Organizations / Institutions / Organizations / Clubs / Societies etc. interested in voluntary social welfare activities

a) 5 working days after receiving the required documents regarding name clearance application

b) 20 working days of receipt of the inquiry letter in relation to registration

Provision of capitation grant to private orphanages

a) Maintenance of children upto 18 years of age

b) Providing formal education and vocational training

c) Provide employment to them with a view to rehabilitation and achieving self-reliance

d) Support in child's holistic development

In private orphanages 5-9 years of age are orphans i.e. 50 percent of poor children without parents.

Assistance in disbursement of grants to registered organizations through Social Welfare Council

a) Grants for income generating programs of registered voluntary organizations

b) General grant from Tk 5000 to Tk 20000 for registered voluntary organizations and maximum grant of Tk 1 lakh for income generating programmes.

Grants are provided by Samaj Kalyan Parishad to the following institutions/organizations:-

a) General Voluntary Organization registered by Directorate of Social Services.

b) Various religious institutions

c) Poor/disadvantaged persons

a) Bangladesh National Social Welfare Council has to apply according to the notification of National Daily newspaper every year in the month of August.

b) Sending the notification to the district social welfare council with the recommendation of the upazila social welfare council within the prescribed schedule.
